What a beautiful day..and Bailey update

What a beautiful day... Think I will take my camera and go to the harbour for a drive and see what I can get for pictures today. Oh...I know I have lots of yard work to do but I just don't feel like it and, lets hope that the lawn ferries come and do it while I am gone.....Not...

Little update on Bailey he had an adjustment to his meds; however was told yesterday we have to look into alternative therapies ,being on the medication too long will shout down his kidneys because he's so small.. So we are looking into acupuncture rehabilitation... I do have to find something to take with me on my walks I feel so lonely without him ,he goes everywhere with me...

I will post some photos later on today and if you are able to get out and enjoy this beautiful day.... Keep smiling :-)

Bailey got mail...

Bailey got his first get well card in the mail today from his Aunt Debbie and Aunt Donna, Thank you. Bailey is doing better the medication is starting to work, we go Monday to get it adjusted its just not strong enough to last until the next dose, but there is improvement, so things are looking up...

No better way to spend the day...

I can't think of any better way to spend the day then with my son Vince and sister Debbie. Thanks Vince for taking your one day of vacation lol to spend with Mom and aunt Debbie. Hope you enjoyed your big trip to Pereau ,and to town. I really enjoyed spending time with you, hope we can do it again soon. Debbie thanks for lunch the pizza and garlic fingers were awesome,love you both lots xox

Sometimes, I forget....

Sometimes ,I forget to thank the people
Who make my life so happy, in so many ways

So today is just another day, nothing special going on

Bailey started another new medication ...

So Bailey started another new medication today, it's a muscle relaxant. I used a heating pad today and it seemed to help with the shaking he just loved the heat, can you tell..

Mommy is no groomer that's for sure.....

My mommy cut my hair tonight because I came home from PEI and I had spots on my head , back end and all four of my paws that were shaved. I looked pretty sad like a sewer rat and smelled like dog. Now I know I am a dog but my mommy buys this awesome shampoo and conditioner and I smell lushes, well I certainly didn't when I came home. So my mommy tried out her new clippers and cleaned me up, tomorrow we will do the feet.

No place like home........

Well we are home and bailey is right at home, just like he never went on a little vacation. How many dogs get to go on a 5 day vacation, get a punk rock hair-do, have all kinds of student veterinarians fussing over ya, get top notch treatments as far as the price tag goes, to try to find the root of the pain so we can treat it. Then come home a curl up on the couch next to you ,and look at you as if to say...aw it's good to be home, then closes his eyes and goes to sleep. Bailey is on two types of pain meds. They think he has nerve and so muscle damage. They say its not showing on the tests they did but that in humans it doesn't either at times. Now I feel they were just trying to get me to do the MRI @a price tag of three grand. With the pain management bailey will be able to live a normal life, we will just have to make sure he takes it easy and doesn't over do it.

Got Bailey and on our way home

Well we have bailey and are on our way home.. He has quite the hair cut .. He was so excited to see us he licked me like crazy and even made sounds like he was crying.. It was beautiful in PEI today the temperature was 21 in Charlottetown and sunny. Hope the weather in the valley was nice..

Bailey comes home today .....

Well I can't wait till 7 am comes , I clock out ,head to PEI and go get my baby... I am super excited I can't wait to see him. Even though I didn't get the results I wanted I am glad he's coming home, we will do the pain management...see you soon bailey

Bailey update....

Well I have been on and off the phone all day with the vet college and believe it or not they say they found nothing. They did a CT scan , Dye test , drained fluid off his spine to test for arthritis and they found nothing. The only other route is a MRI and they can not guarantee they will find anything either. So I have decided to go get him on Friday and bring him home. We are going to do pain management, yes they agree he's in pain but where is beyond me... Lets hope he will get on a pain medication and be able to live a normal life for a long time.... My experience with the vet college was not a good one, for being rated one of the best around , the only thing they were concerned about was the money end of it and not trying to work with me to find the problem. They just wanted to keep exploring more areas by doing more costly tests. They never even listened to anything I was telling them or my own vet when they called my vet. I can't understand how a vet here can see something on a x- ray and send me over there and they not even look at that x- ray but want to explore it them self . It was all about the money... I will be asking for a copy of everything the have done, for all I know they didn't do anything yet charged me .. We will see ...

Bailey update...

Well got call from PEI this morning and they are doing a CT scan and a dye test on bailey this morning he woke up with pain in his back.. I am very glad to hear this now hopefully we will get some results. I will fill you all in as soon as I get any information.

What a day....

Well it was a long day at the animal hospital in PEI our appointment was at 10:30 and we didn't get out of there until 4:15, and to be honest I really don't know much more then when I took him over. I am a little disappointed after reading about the college and how great they were. Bailey today of all days was having a good day therefore they thought I was the one with the problem. The Dr. was like he just ran up a flight of stairs the Dr. Said and he did this and he did that. I tried to explain that this is how he goes and that I wouldn't have came all this way if nothing was wrong with my dog. They ended up calling my vet here in New Minas however they didn't talk to the one that suggested I bring bailey to PEI so I will call her tomorrow. So for now the will watch him, not do the X-rays,CT San ,or MRI like I would like so we can see what is wrong with his spine. I am hoping that when I call my vet tomorrow that Dana will call them and give them a better understanding of what's going on for they didn't seem to think I knew what I was talking about.

My house is so empty I miss him like crazy and just want him home and to not be in any pain....

Bailey update...

Bailey is staying in PEI for a few days to see if they can find out what is wrong with him. I miss him already....

And we wait...

So we wait to hear what the doctor has to say... Dr. Wright is baileys doctor she took him to be looked at by other Doctors we will keepyou posted...

Today is the day....

Well today is the day, Bailey and I are heading out after I get some sleep, worked back shift last night. I will be sure to update you all on any information as soon as I get some. So keep checking back if you are interested in how he's doing. Wish us well..:)

What happened to spring?

This is what I came home to this morning, I thought it was spring. Now it did warm up some towards the end of the day but I think I am done with the white stuff.....

Road trip for bailey on Monday...

Well Monday Bailey and I are heading to PEI. His appointment is for Tuesday at 10:30 am I will be sure to keep everyone up to date as soon as I get any information. Believe me it will be hard to leave him there and come home, my house will feel so empty, I know some people say he's just a dog , well here's a poem I found for those people:

Vince blue eyes....

Well I found this photo and thought I would post it. It is of Vince when he was about 2 1/2 years old.. There has not been any photo editing done to make his eyes any blue then they really are. These are his true blue eyes...I have turned everything black and white expected his eyes and they are still this blue to this day but a little darker....

Bailey got his Appointment Date....

Well I see no one bit on my little Aprils Fools yesterday, guess everyone was on their guard..

So I thought I would let everyone know Bailey is schedule for an appointment on the 16th of April.. He is still shaking and not eating much.  We have been spoon feeding him his water he just doesn't want to eat or drink... I thought I would explain what is going on with him to everyone so you have an idea what's wrong with him...

Intervertebral disc trauma in dogs:

The "herniated disc" is a common back injury in people who take a fall or strain their backs.

 Likewise dogs can suffer from herniated vertebral discs that can lead to severe pain or paralysis.
Between each pair of vertebrae there sits and Intervertebral disc, that compares to a jelly donut.  An outer fibrous ring called the annulus fibrosis is like the cake material called the nucleus pulposus, which is like the jelly"
 Pressure or trauma can cause the calcified materiel to bulge or explode into the nearby spinal canal, which houses the spinal cord, a process called herniation. The resulting pressure on the spinal cord can result in clinical signs ranging from pain to complete loss of feeling and function of the limb.

Decompression surgery can relieve the pressure on the spinal cord caused by disc debris. This is done by creating a hemilaminectomy, Which is similar to a surgical "sunroof "out of the bone overlaying the spinal cord and removes the problematic disc material, relieving pressure on the spinal cord. over 90% of dogs improve with this surgery.

When Bailey was 11 months old he went to the groomers and when he came back he was shaking really bad. I thought it was because I got him cut extra short, for I was due for an operation and didn't want him to be hot during the summer months. The next morning he was still shaking, I took him to the vet and found out he either fall or was hit,he had a herniated disc... I was so upset, I didn't know that a dog shakes when they are in pain, when I questioned the groomer her only words were he must have been going through the teenage puppy years he was a bit aggressive, now Bailey is not any wheres aggressive.. I have been so mad at this person and she does not do him anymore. He has been on medication since last may and it is not helping anymore so the only option is surgery. I will be posting with updates on how bailey is doing to keep you up to date.....
